I had the honor of being appointed to the 1st Ward of the Lockport City Council in June 2023, following the vacancy left by Patrick Sheehan. As a lifelong resident of Lockport, I take pride in my roots and am a graduate of Lockport Township High School. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Communication, along with a minor in Marketing, from Southern Illinois University.
With over twenty years of experience in the private sector, I have had the opportunity to work in various sales and management positions within the consumer products and promotional advertising sectors for Fortune 100 companies. I also bring experience as a small business owner, and having owned commercial real estate in downtown Lockport. When my kids were younger, I had various roles in education, including as a substitute teacher.
In addition to my professional background, I have been actively involved in my community as a board member for my children’s school and for Watts of Love, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing LED solar lights to communities throughout the world lacking access to electricity. These experiences have helped me cultivate skills in advocacy and community support.
As a City Council Member, my commitment is to transcend divisive politics and prioritize the well-being of all citizens as we work to enhance the quality of life in our city. I have been a strong advocate for public health and safety, including supporting measures to ban non-regulated, non-FDA approved psychoactive drugs within our community.
On a personal note, I am blessed to be married to my high school and college classmate, Andrew King. We have shared over 23 wonderful years together, and we are the proud parents of two sons.
